Application Analyst - Finance
The Application Analyst will deliver enhancements for the ERP and other supporting applications and integrations, focusing on the Finance Modules. This includes: capturing business needs, translating to system requirements, designing solutions, writing functional/technical specifications, configuring/customising the systems, designing test cases and deploying changes. The role is critical to understand the Chart of Accounts structure, posting rules and how the ERP process translate to financial entries.
Additionally, the Application Analyst will provide 2nd-level support for the ERP, supporting applications and integrations. This includes: troubleshooting, raising support tickets with vendors, validating and delivering fixes. It may also include reconciliations to support financial testing and confirmation of outcomes.
Responsibilities
- A mix of business-as-usual support and participation in cross-functional project teams.
- Quickly attain a detailed level of understanding of the existing technical solutions and business processes, as required.
- Apply technical and business knowledge to evaluate business requirements and implement working solutions through system design, analysis, testing, training, and documentation.
- Proactively communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with business users, and support teams.
- Proactively identify, document, and resolve issues (escalating where necessary).
- Lead cross functional work groups to identify and document detailed requirements, workflows, information sources and distribution paths, and system specifications.
- Provide Finance-related support to other work groups, ensuring the financial impacts of operational decisions are understood, and appropriately reflected in the ERP.
- Apply problem-solving and analytic methods to troubleshoot issues and review processes.
- Work within (and provide input to) the governance frameworks of the project/support teams.
- Balancing solving user/local problems while working within a large organisation with a common-operating model.
- Some travel to overseas sites may be required.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or equivalent, combined with experience and knowledge of Technology Solutions; Or
- Bachelor’s degree or higher – or the equivalent, preferably in relevant technical fields such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Analytics, etc. Combined with experience in an Accounting / Finance Role;
- Deep business understanding of ERP domains, especially Finance (E.g.Manufacturing, Inventory Management, Sales, Purchasing, Fixed Assets etc.).
- Ability to work with diverse teams and key internal and external stakeholders in the organization.
- A customer-centric approach with empathy for end users.
- Ability to quickly build deep product knowledge.
- Strong English-language verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in Epicor, SAP, Oracle or other Tier 1 ERP application
- Experience providing end user training.
- Experience with ERP application in a manufacturing, distribution or trading company.
- Expertise in communicating progress at each phase of development as appropriate, including published roadmaps, requirements, and other information.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Sound experience with software development methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall.
- High degree of both technical expertise and business acumen.
- Strong results-orientation combined with excellent judgment and problem-solving skills, track record of product success.
- Demonstration of outstanding communication skills internally and externally, across teams, functions and levels.
- Demonstration of attention to detail, strong organization and planning skills.
- Proven success working on large projects.
