Job Description Summary

We are seeking a skilled Thermal Plasma Spray Technician to join our team. The Technician will be responsible for using thermal plasma spray equipment to apply coatings to various materials for enhanced performance, wear resistance, and protection. The ideal candidate should have experience with plasma spray technology, a strong understanding of materials science, and the ability to work with precision to produce high-quality coatings.

Job Description

  • Set up, operate, and maintain thermal plasma spray equipment to apply coatings to metal, ceramic, or composite materials.
  • Prepare materials and substrates for coating, including cleaning, masking, and preheating surfaces.
  • Select appropriate spray materials, powders, and gases based on the specifications for each job.
  • Monitor and adjust the plasma spray process to maintain optimal parameters (temperature, speed, and feed rate) for coating quality and uniformity.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure coatings meet quality standards, thickness requirements, and adherence to specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of plasma spray equipment to ensure smooth operation and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to improve coating processes, materials, and techniques.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, wearing the required protective gear and ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Record data, such as machine settings, material consumption, and coating thickness, for quality control and process optimization.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of projects and equipment maintenance logs.
  • To performed ad hoc process such as chiselling, blending and cold work and tack weld.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with thermal plasma spray or similar coating processes (HVOF, arc spray, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of plasma spray technology, including equipment, materials, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the properties of various materials (metals, ceramics, composites) and their compatibility with different coatings.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good knowledge of safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity to operate machinery and handle materials.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and willingness for supporting operation needs time to time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or training in thermal spray coating processes (e.g., AS9100 or equivalent).
  • Experience with other coating techniques such as HVOF (High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel) or arc spray.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems or other software tools related to coating applications.
  • Background in materials science, metallurgy, or a related field.
