Overview

We are hiring for one of our portfolio companies. This is an onsite role onboard a cruise ship in Southeast Asia.

Position Title: Accountant (Inventory & Cost Control)

Location: Onboard Cruise Ship in Southeast Asia

Target Markets: Asia

Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of all onboard inventory including food, beverage, consumables, and retail items
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with department heads to forecast needs
  • Ensure compliance with company inventory policies and procedures

Cost Control & Analysis:

  • Track and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) across departments
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports for management review
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support budget adherence
  • Assist in pricing strategies and margin analysis for onboard sales

Accounting & Reporting:

  • Record inventory transactions in the accounting system
  • Assist in month-end closing procedures and financial reporting
  • Support internal and external audits with required documentation
  • Collaborate with shore-side finance teams for data consolidation

SOP Development & Process Documentation:

  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for established inventory and cost control processes
  • Submit SOPs for review and approval by the Finance Manager
  • Ensure SOPs are aligned with company policies and updated regularly

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with F&B, Retail, and Hotel Operations teams to align inventory and cost practices
  • Train department staff on inventory procedures and cost awareness
  • Participate in onboard financial meetings and contribute to strategic planning

General Finance Support:

  • Perform finance-related tasks as assigned by the Chief Accountant or Financial Controller
  • Provide support during budget preparation, variance analysis, and ad hoc reporting
  • Assist with compliance and documentation for statutory or corporate requirements
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or maritime industry
  • Strong understanding of inventory control systems and cost accounting principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with cruise ship operations is a plus
