Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant with experience in stock and inventory management. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring proper stock controls, and supporting the organisation’s financial operations with timely reporting and analysis. This role requires solid accounting knowledge alongside hands‑on experience in managing inventory processes, stock audits, and reconciliation.

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, journal postings, and month‑end closing activities.
  • Assist with financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and periodic variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • Oversee daily stock movement records, including goods received, goods issued, returns, adjustments, and stock transfers.
  • Perform monthly stock reconciliations, ensuring accuracy between physical stock and system records.
  • Conduct and coordinate regular stocktakes/physical counts, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor stock ageing, slow‑moving items, and stock valuation.
  • Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure proper stock control and documentation.
  • Highlight discrepancies, irregularities, and risks, recommending improvements to internal controls.
  • Maintain accurate records in accounting and inventory systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SQL, MYOB systems).
  • Support implementation and optimisation of digital stock management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs and statutory regulations.
  • Prepare inventory turnover reports and provide insights to improve stock efficiency.
  • Generate financial and operational dashboards for management review.
