Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable BI solutions that empower our teams and customers with data-driven insights. The BI Developer II will be responsible for developing self-service dashboards, automated reports, extracts and other highly scalable analytics that deliver data-driven insights to customers. This role implements best practices in data visualization and user interface/user experience design to build interactive, highly consumable dashboards to embedded insights and decision-analytics into customers’ workflows. The BI Developer II also contributes to the development of data product training and marketing collateral, implementation plans, and post-production utilization monitoring.

Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis and Visualization: Analyze complex datasets to extract actionable insights and trends. Design and develop visually compelling dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to communicate findings effectively. Utilize advanced analytical techniques to uncover hidden patterns and correlations within the data.
  • Data Integration and Transformation: Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources to create a unified view for analysis. Develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of data to BI applications. Implement data cleansing and quality assurance processes to maintain data integrity and reliability.
  • BI Platform Management: Manage and administer BI platforms and tools to support business reporting and analytics needs. Configure and optimize BI infrastructure for performance, scalability, and security. Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in BI technologies and recommend improvements or new solutions as needed.
  • Business Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Provide expertise and guidance on BI capabilities and functionalities to support decision-making and strategic initiatives. Conduct regular reviews and demonstrations of BI solutions to gather feedback and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor the performance of BI applications and identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement. Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting to address bottlenecks and improve query performance. Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to proactively identify and address issues impacting data availability or performance.
  • Documentation and Training: Document data models, processes, and technical specifications to ensure comprehensive understanding and maintainability of BI solutions. Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and applications to facilitate self-service analytics and reporting capabilities. Develop and maintain documentation, mentor junior BI developers, and support knowledge transfer across teams.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and usability of BI solutions. Evaluate new technologies and methodologies to innovate and evolve the BI architecture and capabilities. Engage in knowledge sharing and collaboration with peers to foster a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
  • Emphasis on Security and Compliance: Ensure BI solutions comply with data privacy regulations and organizational security policies. Implement data access controls and encryption to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Focus on Agile Methodologies: Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver BI projects in an iterative and incremental manner.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as business analytics, data analytics/science, data engineering, computer science or other quantitative fields and a minimum of 5 years of related experience;
  • OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of related experience;
  • OR PhD with no experience.

Technical Proficiency:

  • 5+ years of experience in developing and supporting self-service dashboards, automated reports, data extracts, or other scalable data/analytic products.
  • 5+ years of experience in visualizing data/insights using Tableau, Business Objects, PowerBI, MicroStrategy, or other BI tools; professional certification preferred.
  • Advanced SQL expertise and strong experience with RDBMS (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes, and data modelling.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical / analytic requirements and product features.
  • Ability to rapidly prototype business intelligence solutions to demonstrate proof of value.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and in a self-organized team environment using agile methods.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

NOTE: All interviews will be conducted in English.

Base compensation ranges from $45,000 to $50,000/pesos per month. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
