JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Installations Manager

Reports to: Operations Director

Location: Workshop based in Glossop, Derbyshire, but role requires the ability to travel nationally to site on a regular basis with the potential for international travel as the need develops.

Salary and benefits: Starting from £45k per annum, based on experience.

The Role:

Working to ensure the precision fitting of our traditional architectural joinery products, such as doors, floors, panelling, and kitchens, etc. on behalf of our client. This role is both hands on and will require the ability to balance the practical side of fitting, as well as developing the supervisory and managerial aspect of the role.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Managerial
  • Oversee the scheduling and booking of fitting teams to site as required, ensuring optimal resource allocation and minimal downtime between projects.
  • Develop detailed installation plans based on project timelines, coordinating logistics for material delivery and team transportation nationwide.
  • Monitor project progress through regular site visits and digital reporting tools, identifying potential delays early and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the design and production teams to review joinery components prior to dispatch, verifying compatibility with site conditions.
  • Manage budget adherence for installation activities, tracking expenses related to travel, tools, and subcontractor fees while maximizing cost efficiency.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor internal and external fitters, conducting performance reviews and providing constructive feedback to foster skill development.
  • Implement and develop standardised fitting processes across all teams to maintain consistency in craftsmanship.
  • Surveying, defining and setting out site datums.
  • Upholding and ensuring H&S procedures in line with legal requirements and our Client's own standards.
  • Lead post-project debriefs to capture lessons learned, updating company procedures and sharing best practices with the broader operations team.
  • Handle client communications during installations, addressing concerns promptly and ensuring satisfaction with the final outcome.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all installations, including photographic documentation and compliance certifications for audit purposes.
Fitting
  • Fitting bespoke joinery items, such as internal/external doors, panelling, and architectural features ensuring precise tolerances.
  • Measure and mark out installation areas accurately to survey datums.
  • Interpreting installation drawings and specifications to ensure accurate execution of projects.
  • Coordinating with other on site trades like electricians and plumbers, as well as the site manager or homeowner.
  • Contributing to the development of fitting techniques and procedures by sharing insights and participating in process improvements.
  • Ensuring timely completion of tasks, meeting project deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Supporting quality control by inspecting work at various stages to ensure it meets high standards.
  • Engaging in continuous learning to master new techniques and adapt to modern technological advancements.
  • Ensure all site work complies with UK health and safety regulations, including risk assessments, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling of tools and materials.
  • Maintain and clean work areas, tools, and equipment post-installation to uphold site standards and company quality expectations.
  • Liaise with site managers, clients, and colleagues to report progress, resolve issues, and incorporate feedback during the fitting process.
