What we do:

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Water Service Delivery are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

As a Water Supply Interruptions Lead, you will be responsible for driving improvements in performance by developing and implementing robust operational delivery plans. You’ll ensure enhanced data provision for Supply Interruptions Reviews and establish sustainable end-to-end processes for collecting and analysing data, enabling accurate reporting and a deeper understanding of the impact of interruption events. Your work will be critical in supporting Yorkshire Water’s commitment to delivering reliable service and improving customer outcomes.

You will lead the governance framework and own the Water Supply Interruptions Turnaround Plan, identifying and implementing tactical and strategic interventions to enhance performance. Using critical factor and causal analysis, you’ll reduce the likelihood of network failures and improve incident response. Collaborating with Network Engineering and Regulation teams, you’ll benchmark against industry best practice and influence national standards to ensure Yorkshire Water delivers optimal performance and maintains consistency in comparative reporting across the sector.

Where you fit in:

  • Work with colleagues in Engineering to identify causal drivers of Network and Asset failure and formulate controls and initiatives to reduce failure likelihood and impact
  • Work with Operational and Engineering colleagues to identify resilience risks and formulate and record contingency plans to enable improved incident response – driving learning from incident reviews into the teams involved in E2E response and to improve performance and incident response
  • Work with colleagues in Central Control to create and operate BCP plans and Incident Management processes to provide an effective means of managing emergency supply interruption events
  • To work with Internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and new technology deployment to enhance incident response and to improve our understanding of Asset criticality and operational and performance risks
  • To ensure that YW’s Health and Safety strategy is embedded throughout the E2E response to interruption events and that Health, Safety and Wellbeing of colleagues and customers always remains our clear priority over and above operational and ODI performance

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Experienced in operations and engineering disciplines (e.g. Incident response, Emergency Planning, Resource Deployment, Hydraulic Modelling and Engineering Principles)
  • Ability to build business case for change and to measure and monitor cost to serve.
  • A natural problem solver who seeks innovative customer and colleague focused solutions to complex problems.
  • The ability to confidently and effectively communicate with various audiences.
  • High-level health & safety knowledge and policy application.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours and all aspects of the Responsible Leader Framework.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
