A leading NHS health service provider in Camden Town is seeking a core trainee for its critical care unit. The role involves direct admission support and collaboration across various specialties. Applicants should hold an MBBS or equivalent and be eligible for GMC registration. Previous critical care experience is desirable but not mandatory. The organization emphasizes teamwork, sustainability, and inclusivity among staff.
We provide support and direct admission from our busy Emergency Department, which sees upwards of 130,000 patients annually, and we take complex external referrals. The department runs a 24/7 nurse-led outreach service, which is supported by the ICU doctors. The department also runs a fortnightly critical care follow-up clinic.
The unit has specialist interest in long-term weaning, psychology of critical illness, acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, infection control, peri-operative medicine, and emergency medicine, and has expertise in areas such as echocardiography, diagnostic ultrasound, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, experimental, translational, and health services research. Successful candidates will be supported to seek experience in these areas and will be supported in their preparation for specialty exams in Anaesthesia, Medicine, Surgery, or Emergency Medicine, through established educational collaboration with these departments at UCLH.
We welcome applicants with a background in Medicine, Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, or Surgery. The successful candidate will be appointed to a core trainee level rota. Previous critical care experience is desirable but not essential.
All applicants must be eligible for full registration with the GMC and have MBBS or equivalent. Desirable qualifications for this post include MRCP, MRCS, Primary FRCA, or MCEM (or equivalents).
