Job Summary

12 Month Fixed Term / Secondment opportunity. NICU Clinical Research Nurse role within the Women's and Children's team, working on intensive commercial, home grown and NIHR studies. Significant experience within NICU is essential.

Research is conducted at the NIHR Norfolk Clinical Research Facility and the Quadram Institute on the Norwich Research Park.

We aim to undertake clinical research to improve treatment and care at NNUH and beyond.

Main duties of the job
  • Assess and manage care pathways for patients and/or carers participating in clinical trials.
  • Recruit, educate and monitor trial participants, collecting and documenting findings accurately.
  • Play a key role in ground‑breaking research studies and network with research partners.
  • Work independently and as part of a wider team with flexible hours.
  • Use in‑depth knowledge of trial protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain excellent communication skills with a positive and flexible approach.

Person Specification – Essential
  • Qualifications: Registered Nurse/Midwife on the appropriate part of the NMC register and/or possession of a health‑related degree or equivalent; ICH Good Clinical Practice training.
  • Experience: Significant experience at Band 5 or above in an NHS environment, including research role experience; evidence of research activity and good understanding of research and clinical trials.
  • Skills: Advanced clinical skills relevant to the role (e.g., phlebotomy, cannulation, ECG recording) or willingness to undertake training; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deal with the public and colleagues in a pleasant, polite manner.
  • Attitude and aptitude: Effective role model demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values (People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, Excellence); demonstration of understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
