Overview

VP - Business Manager - Securities Finance | 6-month FTC | SCIB Country: United Kingdom

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customised services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

The Securities Finance desk manages the lending and borrowing of securities to optimise liquidity, generate revenue and support trading and settlement needs. The desk plays an important role in market making, collateral management and balance optimisation.

In this interim role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to the Global Head of Securities Finance, help define objectives, track performance, and support decision-making across the platform. You’ll work closely with the Global Funding Hub for Markets to establish and maintain metrics related to financial resource usage, including funding costs, internal pricing, and resource allocation.

  • Developing and maintaining dashboards and KPIs to monitor business performance across products, regions, and client segments
  • Monitoring and interpreting capital usage, balance sheet efficiency, and liquidity metrics to support business optimisation and regulatory compliance
  • Leading and supporting annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Driving and supporting key transformation initiatives, including automation, regulatory change, and product development
  • Preparing high-quality presentations and briefing materials for senior management and governance forums
  • Interacting with senior stakeholders across Global Markets, Risk, and Infrastructure to ensure business priorities are understood and supported
  • Contributing to US regulatory initiatives including mandatory clearing and the T+1 settlement project, ensuring business readiness and alignment with global infrastructure
What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Proven experience in a Business or Project Management role within a Global Markets environment
  • Working knowledge of Financial Markets and related products especially Repurchase Agreements (repos)
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualisation tools
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
It would also be nice for you to have:
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks impacting Securities Finance such as SFTR, Basel III, CSDR
  • Experience with Business Objects, MetricStream, or similar reporting platforms
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a global, matrixed organisation
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and presenting to executive committees

This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles).

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs. For contract roles, your salary, bonus (where eligible) and certain benefits will be prorated to reflect your contract duration.

  • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
  • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
  • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
  • Company funded individual private medical insurance.
