HR/Payroll Assistant

Salary - £24,404 - £25,183

Hours - 37

Contract type - full time/part time

We are currently seeking to appoint a permanent HR/Payroll Assistant. Applications are invited from candidates with HR & Payroll experience to join our team. Under the guidance of the HR & Payroll Support Manager, you will provide HR and Payroll assistance across City of Wolverhampton Council and its partners. This includes logging customer requests through our automated call logging system, supporting Tier 1 queries, and undertaking various HR/Payroll tasks.

This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated and well-organized individual to join a dynamic and busy environment as a HR & Payroll Assistant.

If you possess positive attitude, excellent communication skills, recent customer service/clerical experience, and can manage workload against strict deadlines, we encourage your application.

You must be able to:

  • Log customer requests and ensure they are processed within set timescales and standards.
  • Follow scripted procedures and guides.
  • Accurately record information and carry out basic payroll calculations.
  • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Handle varied workloads and use initiative to escalate concerns proactively.
  • Interpret work and tasks to deliver effective outcomes.
  • Provide professional customer service to all stakeholders.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), good numerical skills, and excellent communication skills are essential.
