This is a production position working for BBC Audio. We devise, develop and deliver original content for the BBC. You can find out more about us here www.bbc.co.uk/bbcaudio. The Content Assistant provides logistical and coordination support to our teams on several productions, ensuring delivery on time and in budget. This role is to work with the BBC Audio North team in Salford. You will join a team working across a variety of output, reporting to an Editor or Producer.
The role will sit within our Culture, Arts and Music team which produce the flagship Radio 4 entertainment strand Loose Ends and the poetry programme The Verb.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the running of a team that produces daily live and pre‑recorded content across BBC Sounds, national radio networks and the BBC World Service.
BBC Audio North is the single biggest supplier of BBC radio programmes and podcasts made outside of London. We love audio and make lots of it – a rich mix of content spanning multiple genres including consumer, investigations, documentaries, pop music, religion and arts for Radio 1, 2, 4, 6 Music plus the World Service and BBC Sounds.
Content Assistants could be scheduled onto any of the output across Audio North. For your first placement we expect you’ll be scheduled onto Radio 4’s flagship series Loose Ends, a fast‑paced short‑turnaround entertainment title, as well as across a portfolio of other work.
You will be supporting the Producer and Assistant Producer with show production, research and administration tasks. If you’re obsessed with culture – especially radio, comedy and music and social media – then we are interested in hearing from you.
Note: This role may require early morning and weekend working. It is based in Media City, Salford but travel and location work may be necessary. Content Assistants, as members of BBC Audio North, can be expected to be scheduled on programmes across the department according to business need. The expectation is that you will be working in the Salford office a minimum of 3 days per week.
