What are we looking for?
We seek an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to oversee product quality and hygiene standards at our packing centre, ensuring compliance with customer and company standards, including sampling and swabbing as needed.
- Lead and support the QA team with training, resources, and risk assessments, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and health standards.
- Manage team attendance, coverage, and performance levels.
- Ensure operational processes and production of finished goods comply with HACCP, food safety, and customer standards, and maintain all relevant documentation and systems.
- Lead external audits such as Lion Code, RSPCA, and Organic, and step in during the absence of the Technical Manager.
- Maintain the document control system, ensuring records are current and accurately completed.
- Monitor non-conformances related to product quality, packaging, food safety, hygiene, and traceability, and address customer complaints and non-conformances promptly with root cause analysis.
- Participate in the site HACCP team and deputise as needed.
- Assist with traceability and recall procedures, ensuring staff are trained accordingly.
- Oversee pest management and conduct regular audits to ensure internal standards are met.
- Manage and develop the QA team, including conducting personal development reviews and planning succession.
- Promote a culture of quality throughout the site.
- Handle sampling for salmonella testing and communicate sampling requirements for raw materials, flocks, and grading to management.
- Manage calibration plans for technical devices used on site.
