Assistant Director of English
Location: Driffield, East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary: MPS/UPS; £31,650 - £49,084 per annum.
Contract Period: September 2025
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

GSL Education are actively looking for a dedicated Assistant Director of English for a Secondary School in Driffield.

Assistant Director of English Responsibilities:

• Assist in the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the English department.
• Support in the monitoring of teaching and learning to ensure high standards across all key stages.
• Model outstanding classroom practice and share best practices with colleagues.
• Contribute to the development of a robust, inclusive curriculum that supports all learners.
• Take responsibility for specific initiatives or areas within the department (e.g., KS3 curriculum, literacy interventions, or assessment strategy).
• Support the mentoring and development of teaching staff and early career teachers.
• Contribute to whole-school literacy strategies and enrichment opportunities.

Assistant Director of English Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in English or a related subject.
• Proven record of outstanding teaching and improving student outcomes.
• Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply a for a new one through GSL Education.
• Experience of leading or contributing to curriculum development and raising attainment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
