Salary: £28,597.75 - £31,021.92 pro rata, salary plus standby payment when on call.

Hours per week: 36.66hrs Site based.

Location: Hollinwood Cemetery, Roman Road, Hollinwood, Oldham. OL8 3LU

Closing date: Wednesday 31st December 2025

Role overview

Working within the council’s Cemetery and Crematorium Service, you will join a highly driven team to ensure funerals are accommodated as requested and cemeteries are maintained to a high specification. Funerals are required seven days per week and a standby rota system is in operation, flexibility to cover out of hours is essential.

Key responsibilities
  • To undertake all duties involved in burials.
  • Carry out the necessary tasks to ensure high quality grounds maintenance.
  • To be available to meet and assist the public in all the Borough’s cemeteries.
Key requirements
  • The ability and experience to manually work outdoors in all weathers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively advise and support the public, with confidence to assist in cemetery queries.
  • Excellent organisational skills will be needed to work individually and as part of a team to ensure a high service delivery for the residents of Oldham.
