This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement that will require only rare travel to our Coventry office and campuses. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

The legal team touches every part of the University and we pride ourselves on thinking differently to give our internal client teams the best commercially astute legal advice. We are a fast paced business within a larger corporate group of entities and we balance delivering business as usual activities such as negotiating commercial supplier contracts with large scale projects such as property expansions and international projects. We use technology to maximise our potential and we work alongside business teams on the delivery of key initiatives.
The legal function also includes insurance, data protection and FCA compliance in addition to core legal activity such as commercial contracts, student complaints, property, consumer advertising, policy drafting, risk management and overall compliance.
As the Data Protection Manager, you will report to the General Legal Counsel/Data Protection Officer and assist with the management of the Data Protection function within the University and any subsidiaries. You will assist the Data Protection Officer with the setting of the data protection strategy for the business and its group subsidiaries and to discharge the University’s statutory obligations and ongoing compliance with the UK GDPR, PECR and other data protection legislation in foreign jurisdictions where Arden may either have a presence or have partnerships. The role will manage compliance with the data protection framework on a rolling basis and include drafting of all data protection contractual clauses/international data transfer agreements and advise the business on all data protection implications.
