A healthcare services provider in North East England is seeking a Catering Assistant to support food service operations at the University Hospital of North Durham. The role involves assisting in meal preparation, ensuring high standards of hygiene and food quality, operating tills, and providing excellent customer service. CDDFT are one of the largest integrated care providers inEngland serving a population of around 650,000 people. Acute hospital servicesare provided at Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of NorthDurham and Bishop Auckland Hospital is a centre for planned care. Communityservices are provided from six community hospitals alongside eighty othercommunity based locations.
Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL) /CDD Servicesare a wholly owned subsidiary company of County Durham and Darlington NHSFoundation Trust (CDDFT). SCL/CDDServices provides a range of non-clinical Estates, Facilities and Procurementservices to CDDFT.
Summary of the Role:
The Catering Assistant role is to support both regenerationchefs and other catering assistants in the provision of a highly professionalcatering service within the retail services at University Hospital of NorthDurham, both within the Retail restaurant and Coffee Shop.
This role would be expected to follow the dutieslaid out by the Retail Service Supervisor in the day to day retail services toboth staff and visitor and to ensure that a high quality and cost effectiveservice at all times in a courteous manner.
SCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) set up to deliver a range of non-clinical services The company is a separate legal body to CDDFT.

Bank work is offered on an 'as and when' basis with no guaranteed hours and will be paid on a pro-rata hourly rate for hours worked only
To work under the direction of theRetail Services Supervisor/Manager and assist in the preparation of nutritiousand appetizing meals and snacks for staff and visitors, according to plannedmenu using specified recipes, methods and systems for cook chill catering to the highest possible standardsnutritional, temperature, quality, presentation, hygiene and safety andallergen regulations
To beinvolved in the preparation of all retail and buffet products, adheringstrictly to standard recipes, methods and production planning adhered to.
Ensurehigh standards of food quality from point of purchase to meal preparation,cooking and service, ensuring quality control process throughout.
Tooperate the electronic tills and the handling of cash
To workwithin the coffee shop outlet after full training with the barista stylemachines
To assistin temperature monitoring and recording of all produced meals/foodstuffs andfood storage equipment in accordance with standards as laid down in theCatering Departments Policies and Procedures and Hazard Analysis CriticalControlPoints(HACCP)
Assistwith receipt, quality assurance and stock control of goods received into theretail stores. Correct storage and security of goods, adhering to stockrotation practices in accordance with HACCP.
Assistin Hygiene Audits and Cleaning Schedules inspections for your area of work iscompleted weekly, liaising with the Retail Supervisor to ensure that anyremedial work is carried out.
To assistin the general cleaning of crockery and kitchen utensils using the dishwashingmachine and by hand when required.
To complywith cleaning schedules as specified
Todisplay a high standard of personal hygiene
Communication
Co-operatingwith other members of the Catering Teamto maintain and improve the present high standard of food service, for staffand visitors
To dealeffectively and courteously with colleagues, patients and staff throughout theorganisation and members of the public and to deal with customer complaints andconcerns with a high level of customer service and passing these onto yoursupervisor to deal with or for information

Attendall relevant training for specified role
Completionof Level 2 Food Safety beforecommencement
Attendstaff appraisals and performance reviews, ensuring that you have input in yourpersonal development plans to maximise your potential to meet the departmentand Trusts aims and objectives.
To ensurethat policies and procedures are followed and adhered to.
