We’re a proprietary trading firm developing high-frequency trading strategies for power markets, as these systems slowly catch up to the algorithmic penetration of other liquid assets.

We are a joint venture between Liger Investments and Habitat Energy, founded in 2020 and based in London. Liger Investments, founded in 2007, is a global organization operating on the cutting-edge of algorithmic trading, specialising in futures and derivatives contracts on some of the world’s largest exchanges. Habitat Energy, founded in 2017, optimizes flexible assets in the UK, Australian and US electricity markets and possesses strong electricity markets and data science expertise. Habitat Energy is a portfolio company of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners.

We are looking for smart, motivated and self-driven people to join our team, who want to play a role in shaping a new facet of the energy industry. We have a vacancy for a Junior Power Trader to join our team. The role will require you to gain a deep understanding of the electricity market dynamics and of automatic trading functioning to contribute to the growth of the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring the execution of algorithmic trading strategies in the market
• Managing open risk in the market as needed
• Adjusting the algorithm's parameters and identifying new trading strategies, together with senior traders and data scientists
• Testing new strategies and analyzing market data
• Post-trade analysis to ensure we are capturing the right opportunities
• Identifying improvements to our tools and processes
• Producing market analysis pieces as requested by Senior Traders

The role will require flexibility to work to cover a rota including some early and later shifts, weekends and Bank Holidays from our centrally located Paddington office. A portion of the training will take place in Krakow, where the development team sits. We’re looking for someone who is a great fit for our company. Requirements:

• Strong numerical and problem-solving skills
• The ability to simplify and communicate complex issues
• Python experience is a must.

Extra credit if you can demonstrate:

• An understanding of market dynamics, especially the UK and European prompt power markets
• Model building experience
• An interest in Poker or other risk based activities
