Job description

The Team
MCFD’s community-based Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team is a dedicated group of experienced clinicians and a supportive team leaders. Together, we bring energy, expertise, and a commitment to knowledge-sharing, working alongside families and community partners to deliver wrap-around support for children, youth, and their families. We provide a welcoming and respectful environment with regular opportunities for training and clinical discussions, empowering each team member to grow in their practice. The Role
The Integrated Practice position within Child and Youth Mental Health works specifically with children, youth and families that are involved with MCFD’s teams such as child protection intake, family service, guardianship, and adoptions teams. Through a neurodevelopmental and trauma informed approach the Integrated Practice Clinician engages the community care teams of children, youth and families in a collaborative treatment effort to help mitigate the impact of abuse, trauma, neglect, violence and other adverse childhood experiences on their well-being and help increase their care environment and relationship and relational stability.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.
    • NOTE:If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Completion of training in the CCI (Complex Care Intervention) Certification Program and/or experience in implementing it; completion or in process of completion of the graduate certificate program in Complex Trauma from the Justice Institute of British Columbia; training and experience in Attachment, Regulation, Competency (ARC) Framework; and/or Neurosequeitnial Model of Therapeutics.
  • Completion of training and/or experience in attachment focused modalities such as Filial Therapy, Circle of Security, Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), Connect Attachment Program, Theraplay and/or similar therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience working with children, youth, and their families impacted by complex developmental trauma in collaboration with community partners.
  • Training and experience working with clients in early childhood.
  • Experience providing consultation and support for care teams working with children and youth impacted by child protection concerns.
  • Experience providing a variety of outreach and community support and interventions.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to one day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
