Job description
Overview

Reporting to the Business Process Management Lead, the Business Process Analyst (BPA), is responsible for facilitating process discovery of current processes, process analysis, and process redesign. Leveraging methodologies and tools from Lean and Agile, the BPA supports business process management through the analysis and documentation of end-to-end business processes and workflows to build and maintain the process catalogue repository, business rules, application integrations, data and risk inputs and outputs.

The BPA, in conjunction with the Business Process Management team, facilitates collaboration and cooperation between Major Programs, business operations, and Information Technology. The BPA establishes and maintains cross‑functional relationships with management and staff to facilitate an agreed understanding of the relationships and interdependencies between key business processes, current and future, focusing on delivery of value (products and services) to customers and the alignment of customer journeys and corporate strategic vision.

Responsibilities
  • Create process documentation/workflows, and inputs for Organizational Change Management and
  • Facilitate process workflow modelling in order to collaborate on process improvements, automation capabilities and clearly defined end‑to‑end use cases.
  • Model business processes, define business rules and metrics ensuring alignment with business strategy.
  • Collect and document business rules for project and process improvement/automation efforts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Business Process Management, Operational Business Champions, program director and project teams, business units (management and frontline staff), Information Technology staff, and external vendors.
  • Lead, engage, and participate in project working groups and committees as required.
  • Document business processes using process/workflow software to create process models which can be simulated, analyzed, and executed directly by the business.
  • Support the development of process standards in modelling, governance and improvements.
  • Develop and maintain process models and frameworks based on industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop process architecture models, ensuring standards are applied consistently to process solutions.
  • Create, manage, and audit an inventory of key business processes for the program.
  • Ensure recommended processes and solutions align with core business capabilities and business architect standards.
  • Act as an interface between the business and the solution delivery team as required.
  • Responsible for mapping cross‑functional end‑to‑end business processes and architecture using industry standard tools and methodologies, such as Lean, process centred design, business process modelling, etc.
  • Lead and facilitate Value Stream Mapping workshops, including the on boarding of process owners and Process Leaders (frontline staff).
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Business Process Management, Business Analysis, or a related discipline.
  • Three years of related analytical experience conducting process analysis, documenting business rules, system and business requirements, and performing complex data analysis.

OR

  • Degree in Business, Management, Commerce, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Two years of related analytical experience conducting process analysis, documenting business rules, system and business requirements, and performing complex data analysis.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
  • Project and process documentation, analysis, management, and relationship building skills.
  • Working knowledge of business analysis tasks, activities, techniques, and requirements gathering processes.
  • Working knowledge of Business Process modelling notations and BPM tools to document processes.
The following are considered assets:
  • Education in project management.
  • Certification in Lean.
  • Experience leading or supporting business process documentation and validation.
  • Experience applying Lean concepts and Value Stream.
  • Experience in an Agile workplace environment.
