Qualifications

  • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

How You Will Make an Impact

Good Shepherd is seeking an experienced Registered Practical Nurse interested in providing excellence in care in a community setting. The Good Shepherd Transition Beds program provides brief-stay residential care to marginalized individuals being discharged from hospital who require ongoing medical care and case management services to support optimal recovery and re‑integration into the community.

  • A healthcare professional interested in working in a dynamic community setting responding to the needs of people impacted by poverty, homelessness, mental health issues and substance use
  • The Nurse will be part of a multi‑disciplinary team that will facilitate improved health status and timely, effective discharge to community for service users

Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.

What You'll Bring to Our Team
  • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and currently authorized to practice in the Province of Ontario
  • A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Leadership experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse and complex health and psycho‑social needs
  • Strong assessment, crisis management and risk management skills
  • Successful candidate will have demonstrated interest and competence in clinical nursing practice related to the care of marginalized individuals
  • A commitment to delivering person‑centered care within anti‑oppressive and harm‑reduction frameworks is essential
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
  • Experience with Venipuncture/Blood Work is considered an asset.
  • This position involves shift work including nights as it is a relief opportunity
  • A demonstrated ability to work as an effective, responsive and accountable team member.
