Job Description Summary:
PayPal is currently present in around 80 markets across the Middle East & Africa (MEA). While the e-commerce landscape is still emerging in the region, it is experiencing hypergrowth.
PayPal is seeking an experienced, driven, and ambitious Director, Market Development focused on the Middle East & Africa (MEA) region. In this exciting role, you'll be responsible to scope out potential growth opportunities, drive internal engagement to align and have resources prioritized to accelerate growth through regional strategic projects. You'll work cross-functionally with senior stakeholders and leaders across the organization to bring these opportunities to life and drive impactful results.

In this role, you'll challenge the status quo, ask the right questions, and find innovative solutions to break down barriers to financial empowerment. You'll play a key part in unlocking opportunities for cross-border payments and driving PayPal's growth in the Middle East & Africa region.
Business Acumen & Strategy
- Define and implement a business strategy to drive and maximize growth in the cross-border payments space within the Middle East & Africa.
- Identify new business growth opportunities and clearly communicate the benefits they bring to the region.
- Drive operational execution of growth strategies, ensuring initiatives are implemented efficiently with measurable outcomes that drive incremental P&L growth for PayPal in the region.
Communicating & Collaboration- Lead cross-functional teams to implement strategic initiatives, collaborating with product, marketing, operations, and finance to ensure alignment with regional goals.
- Influence and align stakeholders at all levels to ensure commitment and support for strategic initiatives.
- Represent PayPal both internally and externally, clearly communicating key business objectives and building partnerships to secure resources.
Problem Solving & Data-Driven Execution- Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges that arise during project implementation, ensuring swift resolution to maintain progress.
- Utilize data analytics and market insights to inform decisions, track performance, and optimize ongoing initiatives.
Leadership & Change Management- Lead market expansion initiatives, focusing on scaling PayPal's offerings within new regions and cross-border markets.
- Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adaptation to new strategies and market shifts, providing guidance to market teams at periods of transition.
Qualifications & Experience- 10+ years' experience in strategy development and demonstrated delivery of commercial results within payments or fintech space in the Middle East & Africa region
- Demonstrated ability to think with long-term strategic mindset, while showing strong execution capabilities to deliver on targets
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and with international teams.
- Good analytical and decision-making skills
- Must have an excellent command of both verbal and written English
- MBA qualification from a Tier 1 institution
