G Adventures is the world’s largest small-group adventure travel company and we’ve been making epic travel memories happen on all seven continents for over 30 years.

Our mission is simple: to change lives through travel. And not just our travelers’ either. Since day one, our tours have been built to establish meaningful relationships with local communities, directly benefiting the people and places we visit at every step of our tours.

With the demand for travel coming back strong, we are set up and excited for this next chapter in our company’s story — and we’d love for you to be a part of it.

Our DNA revolves around building, nurturing, and developing a diverse culture of people and a true sense of belonging, where everyone is encouraged to bring their authentic self to work each and every day. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your career, and yourself, alongside a passionate, talented, and welcoming community that works hard to spread goodness around the world.

If all that sounds like your kind of thing, well, we can’t wait for you to join us.

About the role

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing HR support and guidance to the staff located in South Africa, by partnering with the business on a variety of areas, including but not limited to, recruitment, benefits, HR Admin & Employee Relations.

You will be someone who has a real interest in developing and progressing in the HR space, working alongside local stakeholders within a regional and global team. You do not require travel industry experience to land this role, but you will ideally have some recent experience in an HR role at a similar level, or one with clearly demonstrably transferable skills.

This role benefits from a hybrid approach and is based out of the Cape Town office three days per week.

What You’ll be Doing:

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

Advise and collaborate with hiring managers through all stages of the recruitment lifecycle, including conducting recruitment planning meetings, recommending best practices, preparing offers of employment and conducting reference checks.

Ensure adherence to local employment laws and company policies related to recruitment, hiring practices and employment standards.

HR Operations

Maintain and update employee electronic records in HRIS (Workday), ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.

Process and reconcile Talent-related invoices under the guidance of the Global Talent Manager, ensuring timely and accurate payment.

Respond to employee queries via the Global Talent Inbox and internal support ticketing systems, ensuring timely, informative and professional communication.

Prepare Talent-related correspondence, including reference letters and compensation change notices and ensure documentation is accurate and delivered on time.

Support Talent operations, including preparation of payroll reports across multiple jurisdictions and assist in offboarding activities to ensure compliance and consistency.

Provide support for facilities and office management tasks, such as issuing access cards, managing supplies and supporting operational logistics, as directed by the Regional Operations leadership team.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

Assist in the delivery of performance management and employee relations processes, including preparing documentation, taking meeting minutes and occasionally managing cases from initiation to resolution.

Conduct workplace investigations, gather relevant facts, analyze findings and prepare detailed reports to support decision-making by the Global Talent Team.

Provide coaching and consultation to managers on disciplinary actions and employee relations, recommending appropriate interventions such as feedback, performance improvement plans or termination processes.

Act as a change agent during company changes, supporting communication plans, employee transition processes and stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth implementation.

Benefits & Compliance

Manage and oversee benefits administration processes, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant handling of employee benefits.

Ensure adherence to local employment laws and company policies related to health and safety, compensation and benefits and employee relations.

Build strong relationships with external vendors and service providers, including benefits administrators, recruitment firms and legal advisors, to ensure quality service delivery and compliance.

Projects, Engagement & Process Improvement

Collaborate across global and regional Talent teams to implement and support initiatives that align with G Adventure’s goals and employee experience.

Identify and implement improvements to Talent processes and services, recommending efficiencies or enhancements to support operational excellence.

Participate in global and regional projects as assigned by the Global Talent Manager, contributing expertise and ensuring alignment with company priorities.

Required Skills and Experience

Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Solid understanding of regional employment laws, labour standards, and HR best practices.

Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Human Resources, with exposure to functions such as recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration and compliance.

Experience supporting performance management, offboarding processes and employee life cycle activities in a global or multi-location environment.

Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and handle sensitive employee matters professionally.

Proficiency using HRIS, such as Workday, to manage employee data and support operational processes.

Strong computer literacy, including advanced skills in Google Suite applications would be advantageous.

Ability to analyze HR data and metrics to support reporting and decision-making.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey information clearly and diplomatically to diverse audiences.

Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
