Job summary
A leading healthcare provider in Mpumalanga seeks an Operating Department Assistant to ensure effective preparation and management of the theatre environment. Qualified candidates with a Grade 12 and a Diploma in Operating Department Practice, alongside prior experience in a similar role, are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include supporting registered professionals during surgery and maintaining standards in the anaesthetic and recovery environments. - Prepare the pre-operative theatre environment according to standards.
- Manage the non-sterile operating theatre environment for patient care.
- Support the registered professional in the sterile field during surgery.
- Ensure conditions in the anaesthetic environment meet standards.
- Ensure recovery room conditions meet standards.

Education
A vacancy exists for an Operating Department Assistant based at Life Cosmos Hospital, Mpumalanga, reporting to Clara Vickory, Theatre Matron.
- Effective preparation of the pre-operative theatre environment according to organisational standards.
- Effective management of the non-sterile operating theatre environment for optimum patient care.
- Support the registered professional in the sterile field during the operative phase using the aseptic technique.
- Ensure that the technical and environmental conditions are consistent with organisational standards in the anaesthetic environment.
- Ensure that the technical and environmental conditions are consistent with organisational standards in the recovery room.
- Effective quality management and customer care.
- Grade 12
- Diploma in Operating Department Practice
