A vacancy exists for an Enrolled Nurse Specialist (Theatre) based at Life Kingsbury Hospital, reporting to the Lara Vlotman, Unit Manager. The purpose of this role is to conduct nursing activities to ensure quality patient care.
Critical Outputs
Ensure effective quality management systems by:
- Meet customer needs and expectations
- Report all customer complaints to the UM.
- Attend and participate in review and ward meetings to ensure conformance to QMS audit standards
- Perform and understand infection control standards, PPE standards, and procedures
- Adhere to safety measures
Ensure optimum operational efficiencies by:
- Ensure correct and accurate charging of stock used
- Report and record patient peri-operatively
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of equipment
- Minimize and justify personal absenteeism
- Work flexible hours to minimize agency costs and assist other departments
Ensure effective quality patient care by:
- Perform and complete assigned tasks
- Maintain patient hygiene, comfort, and safety per WHO checklist
- Ensure a safe patient environment
- Follow correct techniques and PPE usage
- Monitor and record patient intake and outputs
- Manage and prepare surgical and diagnostic procedures
- Execute clinical care safely and competently
Demonstrate professional socialization:
- Build and maintain healthy relationships with internal and external customers, support new staff with orientation
- Be a positive team player
Requirements
- Qualification as an Enrolled Nurse
- Registered with SANC
- Experience in anesthesia and flooring
- Minimum 1-2 years in a theatre environment
- Ability to work shifts as required
- Understanding of private healthcare industry (advantage)
- Computer proficiency (advantage)
