Santam has a career opportunity for a Business Analyst in the short-term insurance and retail distribution environment who will be based in Bellville, Cape Town.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consult with business to identify business information requirements.
- Assist with conceptualization, proposal of solutions, and business case development, focusing on data needed to enable the proposed business solutions.
- Analyse, decompose, and model relevant business data requirements through conceptual and logical data models and definitions.
- Plan, organize, and administer data analysis work to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Ensure solutions meet business expectations regarding data acquisition, processing, and reporting.
- Collaborate with data analysts and database administrators to understand data structures and verify that technical implementations meet business requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance and user acceptance testing.
- Investigate production incidents and change requests, identify solutions, and work with the development team to implement them.
- Support and collaborate with project management, change management, training, design, development, and testing teams.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, standards, and methodologies.
- Stay updated on industry practices and trends in insurance and retail distribution, and contribute innovative ideas for technology use and process improvements.
- Assist with compiling monthly statistics and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in commerce, analysis, information systems, or related fields (e.g., B. Comm, B. Tech). Relevant tertiary qualification or certification (e.g., CBAP) is advantageous.
- 3–4 years of experience as a Business Analyst.
- Experience in BI Business Analysis, Data Design, and Systems Analysis in a data and analytics environment is beneficial.
- Understanding of data modeling methodologies is advantageous.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders to identify and specify business requirements.
- Experience working in an Agile environment as part of a Scrum team is advantageous.
- Experience in the short-term insurance industry is advantageous.
