Job summary
A leading retail company in South Africa is seeking a Sewing Machine Mechanic to join their Maintenance department. The role involves repairing and maintaining industrial sewing machines, ensuring high-quality production standards. The ideal candidate has 3-4 years of relevant experience and must be able to work well under pressure. This is a full-time position that offers opportunities for growth within a dynamic team.
Qualifications
- 3-4 years’ experience in industrial sewing machine maintenance in clothing production environment.
- NQF4 qualification in repairs and maintenance sewing machine or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a team and additional hours as required.
Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain a range of industrial sewing machines and allied equipment.
- Set up and test run industrial sewing machines.
- Keep and update maintenance records.

An exciting opportunity has become available in our Maintenance department for a Sewing machine Mechanic.
- Repair and maintain a range of industrial sewing machines allied sewing equipment
- Set up and test run a range of industrial sewing machines allied sewing equipment
- Keep maintenance records and update maintenance reports
- Conduct running maintenance
- Assist and coach learner mechanics
- Maintain and collect technical data for machinery and equipment
- Adhere and manage preventative maintenance program on minor and major tasks
- Folder repair
- Assist with other tasks within the maintenance department
- +/- 3-4 years’ experience in Industrial Sewing machine maintenance in clothing production environment
- NQF4 Qualification in repairs and maintenance sewing machine or equivalent qualification (advantageous)
- Have the ability to work in a team and additional hours as requested
- Must be able to work in a pressurized environment
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Must have a target driven and quick turnaround approach
