Our client, a fast-growing leader in the iGaming and Sports Betting industry, is seeking a Compliance Manager to ensure the business operates with integrity, transparency, and in full alignment with regulatory standards.

This role is critical in safeguarding the companys reputation, managing regulatory risk, and embedding a culture of compliance across all functions.

As Compliance Manager, you will oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions. Youll work closely with regulators, auditors, and internal teams to ensure the business meets its obligations while enabling commercial growth.

This role requires someone with a strong grasp of regulatory frameworks, attention to detail, and the confidence to influence at all levels of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Licensing

• Monitor and ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory, licensing, and legal requirements in South Africa and other jurisdictions.
• Act as the main liaison with regulatory bodies, preparing and submitting reports, applications, and renewals.
• Stay informed of legislative changes in the iGaming and sports betting sectors, proactively updating policies and procedures.

Policy Development & Implementation

• Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and frameworks (AML, KYC, data protection, responsible gaming).
• Train and educate staff across departments on compliance responsibilities and best practices.
• Promote a culture of compliance awareness across the organisation.

Risk & Monitoring

• Conduct ongoing monitoring of operations to identify potential compliance breaches or risks.
• Oversee systems and controls to detect fraudulent activity, suspicious transactions, and non-compliance.
• Ensure proper reporting and escalation of compliance breaches.

Audits & Reporting

• Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely delivery of documentation and responses.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and prepare regular reports for senior management and the board.
• Provide compliance input on new market entries, product launches, or strategic initiatives.

What Our Client Is Looking For

• Proven experience as a Compliance Manager, Compliance Officer, or similar role in iGaming, sports betting, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks including AML, KYC, GDPR/data protection, and responsible gaming.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills able to work confidently with regulators, auditors, and senior leadership.
• Analytical mindset, detail-oriented, and highly organised.
• Ability to balance compliance obligations with commercial realities in a fast-paced industry.

Qualifications

• Degree in Law, Business, Risk, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years experience in compliance, with at least 23 years in a management role.
• Experience with compliance monitoring tools, risk management frameworks, and regulatory reporting.
• Knowledge of iGaming and betting regulations in South Africa (and internationally) highly advantageous.
