A leading sports betting company is seeking a National Operations Manager to supervise staff management, including absenteeism tracking and training compliance. Key responsibilities will involve managing customer complaints and ensuring operational efficiency across branches. Candidates should possess a Grade 12 qualification and experience in a betting environment, along with strong organizational skills. This role will require the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to shifting priorities effectively.
National Operations Manager / Internal Auditor / Internal Trainer ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Staff Management Monitoring all staff absenteeism, leave, sick leave and maternity leave, ensuring that all this information is reported accurately on the roster and to HR on a monthly basis.
Capturing and approving / declining leave.
Coaching staff members who have too many sick days and ensuring they obtain medical certificates if they are unable to perform their duties physically.
Coaching staff members with poor performance, giving them a period to improve; if performance does not improve, issuing written warnings with dismissal as the final action if necessary.
Ensuring that all staff have the correct training, upskilling and mentoring staff.
Issuing warnings to staff as per the Codes of Conduct and Disciplinary Actions.
Following the Code of Conduct to maintain fair labour practice throughout the WSB group.
Keeping staff updated on all policy updates, ensuring policy and procedure documents are signed and sent to HR when required.
Ensuring that the policy document file for each branch is always kept up to date.
Making sure that staff are licensed when required and that the relevant departments / board are notified of any staff changes.
Communicating with other departments as essential.
Being fair in allocating shifts on Sundays and public holidays.
Managing the cashiers, cleaners, ticket checkers and bar staff.
2. Banking Ensuring that daily drops are balanced and logged according to the policies and procedures.
3. Stock Ordering Monitoring stock levels for printing, groceries and cleaning goods to maintain sufficient levels for the month ahead.
Ensuring that all stock required for printing, cleaning and other functions is ordered from procurement by the 28th of each month.
4. Customer Service (Complaints) / Monitoring of Staff Finding the best solution towards a problem while being fair and respectful.
Dealing with problems concerning both staff and clients.
Monitoring that no staff member places bets or credit bets for customers.
Ensuring that all staff follow the rules given to them, while also leading by example.
Doing regular floor walks to monitor staff behaviour.
5. Payouts / Cancelled Tickets Ensuring that payout tickets are kept in order for collection by the auditor.
Ensuring that cancelled tickets are kept in order until collection by the auditor.
6. Reports / Admin Management Reporting to senior staff when a problem occurs at the branch (whether fixed or not).
Creating copies of all slips and invoices, and sending them and entering them onto the DCR.
Keeping all files up to date.
Completing the roster, daily report, printer register, daily cash recon, and sending all attachments to the relevant departments in a timely manner.
7. Slots Checking that the manual payouts for the slots correspond with machine printouts.
Calling maintenance if machines are broken or jammed.
Writing down each and every payout.
Balancing the slots registers with the daily cash recon and machine printouts.
Cashing up all staff at the end of their shift and transferring their amount to the manager using a handover template.
Ensuring that the daily cash recon balances and matches the cash on hand.
Adding up all slips and invoices with cash and reconciling with the relevant templates.
Reporting any variances to the regional manager and finance department.
8. Display Making sure all displays are always up to date.
Keeping posters and branch material up to date.
Ensuring that each television has different displays.
Ensuring that all WSB horse racing displays and soccer displays are displayed.
9. Internet Stations Turning internet stations on in the morning and off at night.
Checking that they are working properly throughout the day.
Ensuring that all equipment remains in working condition.
10. Promotions Printing and posting all new promotions at the correct places.
Notifying all staff of new promotions and how they work.
Buying any accessories for new promotions for the shop (slips kept).
Knowing how all promotions work and ensuring that all staff know.
11. Camera Ensuring that cameras cover all angles of the branch.
Ensuring that all cameras are clear and in working condition.
Going through footage when required.
12. Branch Maintenance Performing minor maintenance and calling a maintenance person if needed.
Reporting all major maintenance / damages to Regional Management.
Obtaining approval from Regional Management for quotations for major repairs.
Any other duty which is deemed necessary may be added by management.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Strong attention to thoroughness and detail.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to respond appropriately to unexpected challenges and shifting priorities.
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Good health to perform the physically demanding aspects of the role.
REQUIREMENTS : EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Grade 12 (matric certificate required 50% pass in Mathematics).
Tertiary education (an advantage).
Previous experience in a betting company.
