Job summary

A leading construction and materials company in Gauteng is seeking a Senior Diesel Mechanic to perform maintenance on earthmoving machinery. Candidates must have a Grade 12 certificate, a trade certificate as a Diesel Mechanic, and over 5 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include first line maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and ordering spares. The role requires good experience with hydraulics and basic electrical knowledge. A driver's license is necessary for this position.

  • Working knowledge of different tools
  • Ability to work on RSG, oil sampling as well as lubricating
  • Basic welding – Advantageous
  • Spray painting – Advantageous
  • Supervisory skills (Team leader) – Advantageous
  • Driver's License
Duties and Responsibilities

Working knowledge of all earthmoving machinery (mobile plant, loaders, dumpers, excavators, LDVs, mobile crushing and screening machines).

Perform first line maintenance task on all yellow fleet

Perform first line of breakdown repairs on plant and equipment

Assist with general duties assigned

Develop, modify, construct, and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment

Diagnosis, troubleshooting, fault finding and repairs

Ordering of spares

Complete risk assessments

Good experience in hydraulics (fault finding as well as changing cylinders)

Working knowledge of hydraulic pumps
