Our client in the Meat Industry is looking for a proactive and detail-driven Assistant Store Manager to help drive operations and growth. Meat Production Supervision

1. Overseeing meat production and deboning activities to ensure product is produced to specification and standard;
2. Ensuring adequate raw materials are on hand;
3. Overseeing storage of all freezer items and ensuring correct storage and rotation procedures are carried out;
4. Overseeing and monitoring cleanliness and Quality Control and liaising with staff on any issues;
5. Monitoring sales and stock figures weekly and communicate with store manager on any suggestions;
6. Overseeing processing and vacuum department;
7. Overseeing the packaging of finished products and processed goods to ensure compliance with policies and procedures;
8. Ensuring good stock rotation of meat products in freezers and fridges, and responsibly disposing of any expired or contaminated products as per policies and procedures;
9. Monitoring and ensuring the recording of meat production dates;
10. Monitoring the temperature control of receiving and despatch of products and freezers;
11. Liaising closely with the assistant retail store manager to ensure required stocks are produced timeously;
12. Notifying store manager of stock holdings on raw material, produced goods and processed goods;
13. Ensuring stock rotation to minimise wastage while ensuring sufficient stock holdings;
14. Obtaining approval to order supplies and equipment from approved suppliers;
15. Obtaining authorising for expenditure over R5000.00 for maintenance and repairs;
16. Actively overseeing meat production, processed goods and logistics supervisors and ensuring that all areas are adequately staffed to meet customer needs;
17. Providing input for marketing or promotional activities, and supporting the implementation of these in the stores;
18. Ensuring all work areas are cleaned daily and adhere to all Food Hygiene and safety requirements;
19. Monitoring and reporting on trimming for production;
20. Supporting the Store Manager and ensuring ongoing clear and effective communication between shop floor and management;
21. Liaising with store manager to determine wholesale prices for key customers;
22. Monitoring costs to ensure maximum profitability and reduce wastage;
23. Anticipating sales volumes and ensuring sufficient stocks are on hand to meet the demands;
24. Liaising closely with the Head office factory managers and production managers to ensure adequate stocks are supplied to the store;
25. Overseeing labelling and marking of product and all point of sale items, including packing and sell-by dates, batch codes, ingredient listings etc.
26. Overseeing the staff room cleanliness;
27. Ensuring all fly traps are in working order and maintained;
28. Checking equipment and machinery and reporting any breakdowns or problems to management;
29. Ensuring all employees are wearing the required PPE and adhering to hygiene standards;
30. Monitoring and checking the sign-off of all recording books for scales, batches, receiving and despatching as well as temperature control monitoring;
31. Managing and updating the maintenance file and signing job cards and delivery notes;
32. Overseeing despatch cleaning bay and monitoring the bin area;
33. Ensuring PPE is worn by staff and they comply with safety regulations;
34. Overseeing vacuum prepping and high care areas;
35. Where applicable, monitoring laundry area activities;
36. Supporting the identification and implementation of competency and skills training to ensure the store has suitably skilled employees to meet future sales targets and growth;
37. Monitoring and reporting on absenteeism and sick leave;
38. Supporting all training and skills development commitments and ensuring identified employees are released to attend relevant training;
39. Following up on training initiatives to ensure learnings are implemented in the workplace;
40. Consistently implementing and following disciplinary procedures and processes;
41. Liaising with HR and store management for any recruitment and or promotion of staff in line with Corporate Equity goals and targets, and working closely with HR to ensure all company recruitment policies and procedures are followed;
42. Investigate and resolve non-conformance issues timeously;
43. Ensuring clear connectivity between good performance and associated rewards;
44. Identifying and mitigating risk to employees and / or company, and reporting immediately on any identified risks;
45. Overseeing HR and financial administrative functions at store level and ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted to management for processing;
46. Deputising for the store manager as and when required;

1. Matric;
2. B-Tech or diploma in retail management or equivalent is advantageous;
3. At least 2 years store management or supervisory experience, preferably in a retail food environment;
4. Good knowledge of retail store business practices;
5. Good Computer skills on Microsoft Office;
6. Good people skills and the ability to handle pressure;
7. Ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels of the organisation;
8. Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to follow tasks through to completion;
9. Self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised and manage own time and activities;
