The Job

You will be responsible for:

1. Preparing reports, budgets, commentaries and financial statements
2. Liaising with managerial staff and other colleagues
3. Supervising a team of accounting administrators
4. Creating business strategies to generate shareholder value
5. Creating financial models of new business opportunities to identify income generating opportunities and risks
6. Analysing current business operations to verify the relevance of the specific action and/or entity in terms of profitability and contribution to the organisational architecture
7. Analysing and interpreting financial information in the statement of financial position and statement of financial performance on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis in a group of companies
8. Forecasting estimates for the predicted use of financial resources against the budgeted financial resources during a given fiscal year or period of a project
9. Monitoring the actual use of financial resources against the approved budget and identifying variances during projects
10. Reporting findings and action taken to the appropriate authorities
11. Complying with the legal and statutory framework of policies, business processes, procedures and standards pertaining to recording, classifying, monitoring, and reporting on the use and disposition of financial resources
12. Establishing, maintaining, and applying an institution-specific framework of policies, business processes, procedures and standards pertaining to recording, classifying, monitoring, and reporting on the use and disposition of financial resources
13. Creating management reports on a regular basis that are relevant to decision-making processes, measuring performance against measures and targets (output and outcomes) established during finance management planning, against budget objectives, and/or against financial management performance standards used within the industry
14. Evaluating and analysing findings, and exploring options for corrective action
15. Completing and processing credit applications from suppliers and customers
16. Reviewing all invoices issued on the accounting package
17. Reconciling bank statements, client and supplier accounts
18. Issuing invoices to the relevant client for payment – receiving details of invoices to be issued from project manager/engineer
19. Issuing statements monthly and sending out for payment timeously
20. Following up on outstanding payments not received within the ageing period – late payments to be reported to project engineer/management
21. Liaising with debtors/creditors to address account related queries
22. Verifying discrepancies and resolving billing issues
23. Managing Project SD&L Administration
24. Handling Forex payment administrations
25. Conducting supplier price negotiations
26. Managing Commercial Property Lease agreements, OTP’s, Transfers
27. Consolidating SARS queries
28. Submitting CIPC annual returns
29. Monitoring project values, annual subscriptions of CIDB
30. Preparing for BBBEE audits and conducting research
31. Managing customer vendor registrations
32. Conducting supplier assessments and applications during project tenders
33. Weekly updating and indices, annual renewals of SEIFS PIPS
34. Managing a team of 6-10 people

The Profile

1. You have at least 5 years experience within an Accountant role, ideally within the Agribusiness, Manufacturing and Metals & Steel industry
2. You have a working knowledge of financial principles
3. You have experience in industrial, mining and manufacturing industries
4. You understand the statutory requirements regarding the establishment and maintenance of companies, close corporations, joint ventures, trusts etc.
5. You possess strong analytical skills and are comfortable dealing with numerical data
6. You pay strong attention to detail and deliver work that is of a high standard
7. You are a self-starter and demonstrate a high level of resilience
8. You are mindful of impending risks and losses
9. You are able to handle various complex assignments
10. You must have experience related to the requirements and responsibilities set out in the responsibilities of the position
