Job Summary
The Shipyard Repair and Conversion Contract Specialist is responsible for contract management, negotiation, and compliance for ship repair, maintenance, and conversion projects in a Singapore or Batam-based shipyard. The role involves working closely with clients, and internal teams to ensure projects meet contractual, financial, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Administration & Negotiation
Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts for ship repair and conversion projects with international and regional clients.
Ensure contracts comply with Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Indonesian Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), and international maritime laws.
Manage contract variations, amendments, and risk mitigation strategies.
Project Coordination & Execution
Work with shipyard project teams to ensure contract terms are met.
Address contract modifications, change orders, and ensure proper documentation.
Coordinate with classification societies (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, BV) for regulatory compliance
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including MPA, IMO, SOLAS, and ISM Code.
Maintain detailed contract documentation for audits and future reference.
Conduct internal contract compliance checks and risk assessments.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the main point of contact for clients & shipowners on contract-related matters.
Address client concerns and provide regular project updates.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in contract management within the ship repair, shipbuilding, or oil & gas industry.
Familiarity with local shipyard operations, including floating docks, dry docks, and offshore conversions.
Technical & Soft Skills
Strong knowledge of contract law, negotiation techniques, and risk assessment.
Proficiency in SAP, Primavera, or Microsoft Project for contract and project management.
Strong communication skills in English
