The wood working supervisor oversees daily operations within the wood working department, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The Supervisor leads a team of workers in the manufacturing process, manages workflow, conducts training, and ensures compliance with all operational policies and procedures. This role plays a critical part in optimizing production, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe working environment.
Job Descriptions
- Supervise and lead a team of workers in the production of wood working department.
- Ensure that production schedules are met in accordance with customer orders and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor workflow, assign tasks, and ensure that workers follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations to team members to enhance productivity and skill development.
- Able to interpret drawings and execute it to the actual work.
Quality Control & Process Improvement
- Ensure that all manufactured wood products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of materials, machinery, and the finished products to ensure adherence to quality control guidelines.
- Work with the quality assurance team to identify and resolve any product defects or process inefficiencies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the manufacturing facility.
- Respond to and investigate safety incidents, implement corrective actions, and report findings to management.
- Ensure that the facility complies with all regulatory requirements, including environmental regulations related to wood production.
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Oversee the maintenance and proper operation of machinery, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs.
- Coordinate with production engineer to address mechanical issues, reducing production downtime.
Reporting & Documentation
- Report on production performance and areas for improvement to Assistant Manager – Operations & Supply Chain.
- File and maintain all the cutting list for projects in proper manner for ISO purposes.
Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a noisy, dusty, and fast-paced environment
- Willingness and ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Minimum academic qualification:SPM or Diploma
- At leastone (1) year of experiencein the manufacturing sector, preferably within the furniture or construction industry.
