Job description

Established in 2002, Studio Climb is a pre‑production studio specializing in comprehensive design services such as conceptual illustrations, conceptual design service for character, environment, prop and matte painting.

Studio Climb also includes idea‑generation and visual development, story boarding and directing for film, animated features and game cinematic services.

In 2013, TRANS PICTURES, a China‑incorporated company was established by STUDIO CLIMB to partner with a China media industry; focusing on developing, producing and commercializing animation and live action movie project. Apart from that, TRANSPICTURES owns as well as co‑owns its titles IP; produce titles for specific third parties and collaborate with international marketing and merchandising companies with the aim to increase its IP commercial value.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Studio Climb is looking for a Concept Artist to help us create imaginative and unique characters for our coming Animated Features.

This individual will contribute to the artistic vision focus on creating creatures, and other concepts that will set the animated feature apart from the rest! As a Concept Artist for Environment Design, you must possess the ability to effectively collaborate with the art director and director to create environment that are visually stunning while also working with a wide range of development team members to ensure technical feasibility.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Work with the art director and director to visually develop characters, creatures, and props.
  • Create rough sketches, fully rendered illustrative pieces, material sheets, model turns, movement sheets, pose sheets, paint overs, color palettes and other visual guides as needed by the development team.
  • Research pertinent subject matter to bring believability to the characters and creatures as they exist in the film world.
  • Undertake research and initiate information gathering prior to the commencement of a new task to ensure design needs, reference materials, artistic direction and technological considerations are effectively managed to meet defined goals.
  • Fully capable of resolving a range of complex artistic development issues for both artists as well as other team members.
  • Possess strong time management and prioritisation skills. This entails collaborating with the Production group to coordinate task lists to ensure assignments are progressing as expected according to schedules, milestones and overall project goals.
  • Strong traditional fine art skills, training and production experience (illustration, painting, composition, human anatomy / organic forms, color theory, perspective, 2D & 3D design.)
  • Highly proficient in the use of Photoshop as well as traditional painting/rendering techniques.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of 3D packages a plus.
  • Good communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
PRIMARY LOCATION

Remote or in Kuala Mel­k­um, Malaysia.
