Job description

Pupillage is a key stage in becoming a lawyer. It is a period of practical training and apprenticeship where aspiring lawyers, known as Pupils, work closely with experienced lawyers to gain hands‑on experience in legal practice. The purpose of pupillage includes providing practical experience, mentorship, exposure to different areas of law and supporting professional development. Overall, pupillage bridges the gap between academic legal education and actual legal practice, ensuring that new barristers are well‑prepared to represent clients effectively.

Requirements

• A minimum cumulative CGPA of 3.4 or 2:2 (Lower Second-Class Honours) or equivalent in your degree.
• Excellent grades of 5 A’s or more in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or any equivalent certificate.
• If the firm offers you employment as a Legal Associate before the expiry of your pupillage period, you must accept the offer and serve the firm for a minimum mandatory service period of eighteen (18) months. Should you fail to accept the firm’s offer of employment or fail to complete the required minimum period, you will be required to repay the firm a sum of Ringgit Malaysia Fifteen Thousand (RM15,000.00) only.
• An allowance starting from MYR 3,200.00.
