Job summary

A law firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Registered Malaysian Trademark Agent. Responsibilities include overseeing trademark and copyright matters, filing with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia, and managing a small team. The ideal candidate has a law degree, at least 2 years of IP experience, and excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin. Responsibilities

  • Attend to trademark and copyright matters.
  • File responses and correspondence with MyIPO.
  • Supervise a small team and manage paperwork.
  • Monitor and fulfill deadlines for trademark processes.

Job description

Attending to all matters pertaining to trademark and copyright, including their formalities, searches, drafting filing particulars, prosecution and/or opposition matters

Attending to filings, responses and correspondence with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO)

Attending to clients’ queries and correspondences, including rendering of opinion

Monitoring and fulfilling deadlines

Supervise a small team of staff

Attending to general paperwork of the file

REQUIREMENTS

Qualified, registered and renewed as a Registered Malaysian Trademark Agent

Recognised university degree, preferably in law.

At least 2 years (post-qualification as Agent) of experience in IP, including proven experience in the handling of trademark prosecution work.

Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in Mandarin, both written and spoken, is an added advantage as it will assist in effective communication with Mandarin-speaking clients.
