Job description
Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Trade Compliance teams in Penang and India, ensuring smooth daily import/export operations and mitigating compliance risks.

Ensure adherence to all applicable trade laws and regulations, including Malaysia Strategic Trade Act (MY STA), Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) requirements, and U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and so on.

Work closely with the Global Trade Compliance team on HS code/ECCN classification, export control, and related compliance activities.

Drive compliance programs to enhance internal processes and systems for improved efficiency and risk management.

Monitor regulatory changes, assess business impact, and implement necessary process adjustments in collaboration with global teams.

Partner with internal teams (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, R&D, Sales/Service) and customers to ensure compliance and exceptional service delivery.

Represent NI in interactions with customs, MITI and other relevant government agencies.

Manage internal and external audits; identify compliance gaps and deliver targeted training programs.

Foster a high-performance culture within the regional compliance team.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in trade compliance with people managing experience.

Strong understanding of import/export procedures, customs regulations, LMW requirements, and export compliance regulations.

Ability to identify compliance risks and proactively implement solutions and improvements.

Strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills.

Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.

Fluent English and local language.

Bachelor’s Degree Required (Preferred Major: International trade, Business, Law, Engineering, Logistic).
