Job summary

A retail organization in Malaysia is seeking a maintenance technician to oversee repairs and conduct regular inspections of systems including HVAC. Applicants should have at least a certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with experience in building services being a plus. You will ensure optimal operation of safety features and supervise electrical contractors. The ideal candidate possesses strong troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail, working effectively in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, SPM and recognized trade qualification.
• Experience in handyman or building services is an advantage.
• Competency in mechanical/electrical/building services such as chargeman is advantageous.
• Experience in electrical troubleshooting/wirings or AO chargeman competency.
• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and relevant legislation.

Job description

1. Attends to repairs and maintenance of all systems and related equipment including but not limited to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning and building services.
2. Carries out meter readings to maintain records for utility costs throughout the building, including those of tenants when required.
3. Performs general and emergency repairs and maintenance to all plant and equipment within an acceptable timeframe.
4. Conducts regular and documented inspections of plant and equipment as per the checklist and statutory requirements.
5. Ensures Fire and Engineering safety features operate optimally, and familiarises self with emergency procedures.
6. To be aware and assist management to minimize wastage and costs.
7. Liaises with and supervises Property Maintenance Electrical Contractors on site.
8. Ensures that all workshop tools and equipment are well stocked and maintained.
9. Liaises with and supervises Property Maintenance Electrical Contractors on site.
10. Ensures that all workshop tools and equipment are well stocked and maintained.
11. Attends training courses and workshops, as well as engineering specific meetings when required.
12. Any other tasks or duties that may be assigned by superior from time to time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Minimum Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, SPM and recognized trade qualification.
2. Experienced in handyman or building services will be added advantages.
3. Possesses competency of any mechanical/electrical/building will be added advantages, such as chargeman, Orang Bertanggungjawab, etc.
4. Possesses technical and problem‑solving abilities.
5. With experience in electrical troubleshooting/wirings/ or with competency of AO chargeman or above.
6. Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and knowledge in relevant legislation (building codes, fire safety, and country standards).
7. Sound information system knowledge.
8. Fine attention to detail and quality.
9. Demonstrates ability to work in a team.
