Job description

The Technical Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing technically complex materials, components, and services required for steel manufacturing operations. This role bridges procurement and engineering to ensure materials comply with technical specifications, quality standards, delivery requirements, and cost targets.

MAJOR ROLES
  1. Technical Procurement Ownership Act as the owner for sourcing and purchasing technically complex materials and services, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, material specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
  2. Engineering & Cross-Functional Interface Serve as the primary interface between Procurement, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Suppliers for all technical procurement matters, including clarifications, issue resolution, and change management.
  3. Supplier Technical & Commercial Management Evaluate supplier technical capability and commercial competitiveness, manage RFQs, conduct negotiations, and support supplier selection and approval processes.
  4. Cost, Value & Risk Management Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives while maintaining technical integrity. Identify procurement risks related to supply continuity, material availability, and supplier capability, and implement mitigation measures.
  5. Quality & Compliance Assurance Ensure all procured materials meet quality, inspection, and certification requirements. Support audits, inspections, and compliance with internal procedures, customer specifications, and applicable standards.
  6. Project & Delivery Support Support production and project schedules by aligning procurement activities with manufacturing and project milestones. Monitor supplier performance and proactively address delivery or technical issues.
