Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Malaysia is looking for a Draftsperson responsible for producing quality shop drawings while managing multiple projects under minimal supervision. The role requires strong proficiency in AutoCAD and an understanding of architectural and structural drawings. Candidates should hold a Diploma in Architectural or equivalent and possess at least 1-4 years of relevant experience. The position ensures compliance with internal standards and effective communication with supervisors and co-workers.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Architectural, Drafting Certificate or equivalent.
• Min. 1-4 years working experience in architectural and structural drafting.
• Ability to work well in group problem-solving situations.

Job description

Responsibilities

• To produce quality shop drawings with internal department coordination in all projects assigned under his/her responsibility with minimal supervision.
• To manage priorities in multiple projects/ multitasking scenarios.
• Proper electronic filing/ record of outgoing submission and incoming commended drawings/ transmittals/ correspondences.
• Ensure full implementation of “3 Tier” pre-submission checks of all shop drawings production in 2D.
• Track/monitor the status of schematic balancing from FFYM.

System and Standard

• To ensure of the quality drawing with full compliance based on the requirement of Company’s Shop Drawing SOP.
• To ensure the quality of schematic compliance with the schematic convention and the stack naming convention.
• To ensure the compliances to the standard electronic/ hard copy filing convention.

Technical Capability

• A clear and good understanding of product knowledge.
• Ability to calculate catchments areas and derive the expected flow rate according to design rainfall intensity.
• Able to understand drawings of architectural, structural and combined services drawings.
• Able to provide integrated cross sectional detail drawing of multiple architectural and structural elements.
• Ability to sketch, build and generate schematic diagrams with Cad software
• Able to identify the basic requirement such as clashes, highlight any discrepancies and grey area to DE/DM

Time Management and Communication

• Ability to establish and adhere to project time frames, milestones and deadlines.
• Accountable for the timely submission of shop drawings in 2D format.
• Maintain smooth communication to supervisor and all co-workers.
• To manage of the update drawing status for track record submission.

Accuracy of shop drawings to schematic.

• To ensure the accuracy of the shop drawing to schematic to all project assigned.
• To manage and understand of the Shop drawing design intent and ensure compliance accordingly to all project assigned.

Qualifications

• Educational in Diploma in Architectural / Certificate / Drafting Certificate.
• Good Interpretation of Architectural and Structural drawings.
• Knowledge of construction detailing.
• Computer literacy. Well versed in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
• Min. 1~4 years working experience in Architectural and Structural drafting and works well in group problem-solving situations.
