Job description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the systems engineer will provide engineering design, technical configuration, and drawing of various telecommunication systems.

He/She will possess extensive knowledge and experience in engineering design of telecommunication, safety & security, and marine navigation systems covering technologies such as IP Infrastructure, WIFI WLAN, Firewall security, IP-PABX, PAGA, CCTV, VCS, TETRA/DMR UHF/VHF Radio, GMDSS Radio, GEO/MEO/LEO VSAT, IPTV, Radar, Gyrocompass, etc., and provide engineering design, technical configuration, proof of concept, as well as drawing instruction of various telecom systems.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of engineering design, understand client requirements thoroughly, and propose suitable solutions that meet specifications.
• Produce engineering documents (VDRL) and address client comments promptly, ensuring high quality and accuracy.
• Create initial drawings and guide AutoCAD drafters to produce engineering deliverables.
• Apply industry standards and best practices in engineering drawing preparation, design, review, and submission.
• Supervise in-house technicians in equipment assembly and cabinet integration; implement system configuration, simulation, testing, and verification.
• Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) for clients and provide in-house training to clients and commissioning engineers.
• Perform any other ad hoc tasks as required for business needs.

Requirements

• Minimum diploma in telecommunications or a related technical discipline.
• Proven 4-5 years of experience in a similar role within the industrial markets.
• Strong documentation and time management skills.
• Ability to articulate and share concepts effectively with customers and suppliers.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading teams.
• Objective-driven, time-sensitive, and resourceful.
• Autocad certification is an advantage.
• Site commissioning/radio surveying experience as per SOLAS/MODU is an advantage.
• Experience using coverage tools such as CadnaA for PAGA, Ekahau for WIFI coverage, and iBwave for UHF/GSM coverage is an advantage.
