About the Role

This position will drive impact through both the review and enhancement of the firm's Group ESG strategy at the local Malaysia level and lead the firm's interaction with Regulators and other relevant bodies, and to ensure Compliance with Regulatory requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Improve current ESG policies, data collection and reporting at entity level.
  • Work closely with colleagues to facilitate improved understanding and integration of ESG factors into their business areas, covering both risks and opportunities.
  • Lead training sessions or workshops on sustainability practices for employees
  • Providing technical ESG assistance and support to local business units, including coaching and best practice sharing.
  • Assess the financial impact of ESG initiatives in all local business units.
  • Identify areas where local business units can improve environmental, social and governance impact.
  • Support external communication to stakeholders on material developments in The Companies’ ESG performance and credentials.
  • Remain up to date on ESG trends and developments and translating them into actionable improvements in the fund and portfolio companies.
  • Facilitate and organizing the agenda for ESG Committee meetings.
  • Participate in management or board meetings with company leadership.
  • Continue to embed the Company’s ESG Approach by developing targets, goals and KPIs at entity level in collaboration with Group ESG team.
  • Address key areas of stakeholder concern on ESG issues related to local business units.
  • Embed responsibility for ESG data collection, management, and increase overall awareness of ESG topics across department functions.
  • Identify and participate in key external forums to influence policy with regards to ESG matters and amplify visibility for local business units in partnership with other divisions.
  • Assist local business units in setting the vision and program for 2030 aligned with the Group ESG approach.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure regulatory requirements are met on a timely basis.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Degree/ Certifications in Actuarial Science is preferred.
  • Must possess knowledge of sustainability and climate related risks and opportunities.
  • The ideal candidate will have an insurance background with a detailed understanding of the industry as well as relevant sustainability and climate risk levers.
  • A technical background with nuanced understanding of sustainability implications on insurance sustainability levers will be considered favorably.
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance strategies to build preventative measures against potential losses.
  • Good knowledge on process flows and control points.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player and passionate in learning.
  • Proven leader and manager, able to take charge and act assertively without guidance.
