As a Lead Accountant, this role requires proficiency in IFRS and local GAAP, as well as substantial experience in audit processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical accounting skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential, as the position involves frequent interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.
Additionally, strong time management and project management abilities, robust organizational and analytical capabilities, and a collaborative mindset are required to effectively manage multiple statutory requirements across various jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare annual statutory financial statements in compliance with local regulations and/or IFRS, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Review GAAP differences and timing items, and accurately reflect these in the financial statements.
- Post statutory adjustments and maintain precise statutory ledgers.
- Respond promptly to auditor queries and provide all required documentation.
- Validate the accuracy of data for statutory balances.
- Coordinate with the Tax team and external service providers to incorporate tax computations into the financial statements.
- Liaise effectively with tax teams, auditors, and finance stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Own the compliance calendar, track audit status, and provide regular updates to all stakeholders.
- Review draft financial statements with the Accounting Manager and Finance Leader as needed.
- Secure necessary board and/or Director’s review and approval to ensure timely financial statement filing.
- Ensure the timely preparation of country-specific reports.
- Liaise with service providers for timely XBRL conversion and filing.
- Maintain robust internal controls over statutory reporting processes.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and mitigate potential risks to the organization.
- Foster a collaborative environment by actively engaging with cross-functional teams, including accounting, tax, audit, and finance stakeholders, to resolve issues and drive process improvements.
- Participate in regular team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions to align on statutory processes, share best practices, and address challenges collectively.
- Support peer review frameworks and harmonization initiatives to ensure consistency and quality across statutory accounting activities.
- Encourage open communication and feedback within the team to continuously improve performance and foster a culture of accountability and mutual support.
- Contribute to cross-team projects, such as automation and digitalization initiatives, to simplify workflows and enhance compliance and efficiency.
Who You Are
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; ACCA, MIA membership holder preferred.
Experience: at least 3 years in statutory accounting or audit experience with multinational entities.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP.
- Proficiency in Excel is a must. SAP S4 knowledge is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
