Responsible overseeing the smooth running of Cathlab daily by
Facilitate and coordinate the admission and management flow of cases scheduled for procedures in Cath lab.
Be part of Cath.lab on call team.
Conduct typical nursing duties such as monitoring vital signs or administering medication as instructed by the doctors.
Participate in life-saving actions such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation.
Participate in hospital education programs related to cardiac such as CPR, BLS & ALS.
Counsel patients and keeps patient records.
Skills in cardiac invasive and non-invasive procedure.
Provides complete cardiac care, including teaching and counseling patients and their families.
Demonstrates accountability for the quality of care and works closely with the Cardiologist, radiologist and anesthetist.
Responsible for taking care of a patient before, while and after treatment in the Cathlab.
Responsible for ensuring that the patient’s emotional well-being is looked after and supports the patient through a healthy delivery.
Assists the Cardiologist in:
Carries out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
1.Prepares the Cath lab for the appropriate procedures according to the order of list.
2. Recognizes safety policies, procedures and adhere to them.

4.Co-operates and anticipates during surgery in getting items required.
5. Enters time on procudure, start – when incision is performed. Ending time: - last stitch
6. Fills in Cathlab checklist form.
7. Helps to position patient safely
8.Records or tags items that are used.
9. Learns to scrub for Cathlab cases.
10. Disposes the used items according to the hospital policy.
11.Never leave the Cathlab, unless there is another un-scrubbed person in Cathlab.
12.Maintains cleanliness of the room and always ready for the use for the next session.
1.Prepares the operation room for operations:
2.Discusses withCardiologist the approach of procedure and any special preference.
3.Verifies the correct patient identity, operative site and side and valid consent form.
4.Reviews patient’s information and notes and communicates with team members potential surgical, anaesthesia risks, hazard and complication.
5. Provides privacy, comfort measures and supportive care to patient.
6.Scrubs well ahead of surgeon adhering to aseptic techniques of scrubbing, gowning and gloving.
7.Conducts swabs, instruments, and sutures counts with circulating nurse prior to operation.
8.Assists with draping patient.
9. Passes instruments decisively and positively that the surgeon knows he has it.
10.Keeps instruments clean.
11. Passes over to circulating/recovery nurse the correct and relevant information.
12. Keeps voice down but loud enough to be heard. Maintains respect for both the patient and the people who works with her.
13. Disposes sharps and used items safely into the appropriate container according to hospital policy to avoid accidental cuts, punctures, lacerations and prevent potential risks of infectious contamination.
14. Maintains cleanliness of the room and equipment, and ready for use of next surgery.
