Position Summary

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit according to established standards and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for carrying out high standard of nursing care and treatment of her patients during her shift.
  2. Receive shift report of the patients details and condition and render care appropriately.
  3. Visit every patient, assess condition, and implement nursing care plan to achieve satisfactory clinical outcomes.
  4. Take and document the vital signs of the patient and inform the relevant doctor of any abnormalities.
  5. Responsible for collection of specimens when ordered, ensuring correct labeling.
  6. Follow medical staff rounds and assist by giving relevant information as regards to nursing observations made on the patients. Assist the medical staff in procedures.
  7. Ensure consultants orders are carried before the end of each shift.
  8. Administer medications to patient according to standard operating procedure.
  9. Carry out dressing using strict aseptic technique as per policy and procedure.
  10. Treat all patients with consideration and courtesy with respect for culture and religion.
  11. Supervise the cleanliness of assigned area or the ward.
  12. Check DDA and controlled drugs, emergency trolley, portable oxygen for each shift.
  13. Ensure that all items used for the patients inclusive of medications, surgical supplies are duly recorded and charged.
  14. Carry out inventory on surgical items and equipment for each week.
  15. Maintain patient's safety by taking preventive measures against accidents and incidents.
  16. Responsible to report to Nurse Managers/ Supervisor of any incidents.
  17. Take personal responsibilities of own professional development.
  18. Assist to manage the mortuary services as according to the hospital, regulatory and ethical requirements.
  19. Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Education and Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with at least 2 years experience.
  • Preferably with a post‑basic certificate (ICU and orthopedic).
  • Valid annual practicing certificate.
  • Able to communicate well in both written and spoken English language and Bahasa Malaysia.
Special Demands
  • Possess a pleasant and caring personality.
  • Possess adequate knowledge and competence in rendering nursing care and analytical skills to interpret changes in patient conditions such as medical, surgical, orthopedic and pediatric patient.
