Job description
Staff Engineer, Product Engineering Operations (VCSEL)

Assume VCSEL product ownership from development through production lifecycle management. Ensure product performance, yield, cost of goods sold (COGS) and quality to meet business objectives. Act as the technical interface between internal teams and business unit, driving continuous improvement and supporting R&D and new product introductions.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the entire product portfolio throughout its lifecycle, ensuring performance, quality, and cost objectives are met.

Serve as the central point of contact for all product-related matters, providing clear communication and coordination across teams.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield and test processes to optimize costs and enhance product efficiency.

Conduct statistical analysis of characterization and test data to identify cost drivers and implement yield improvement programs.

Collaborate closely with project teams during the development phase (e.g. design and test reviews) to ensure a seamless transition from development to mass production.

Support the quality assurance team with RMA handling and failure analysis.

Act as the technical interface for internal stakeholders and external customers, delivering expert guidance and support.

Ensure that any fabrication process modifications comply with product performance and reliability requirements.

Monitor production and feedback relevant issues to ensure DFM

Job Requirements

Candidate must have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Opto-electronics, or a related technical field. Candidate with Master's Degree in the relevant field will have an added advantage.

2–3 years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, yield engineering, or testing (VCSEL or laser experience preferred).

Solid understanding of semiconductor lasers, manufacturing processes, and applications (ideally in VCSEL technology).

Strong analytical and fact-based decision-making skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Proficiency in Six Sigma problem-solving and Lean Manufacturing.

Experience in product qualifications, quality standards, and failure analysis.

Knowledge of product routings, workflows, and development processes.

Project management experience and ability to work cross-functionally.
