Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Scheduled Waste Management:
    Maintain the scheduled waste store according to the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005, including proper labeling, segregation, secure storage, and regular inspections.
  • Hazardous Waste Disposal:
    Coordinate with licensed waste contractors to ensure safe and compliant disposal at DOE-approved facilities. Verify waste classification, packaging, and transport.
  • eSWIS Reporting:
    Prepare and submit monthly scheduled waste performance reports via the eSWIS system, ensuring accurate data for DOE compliance and internal tracking.
  • Consignment Notes & eSWIS Updates:
    Manage consignment notes and regularly update scheduled waste treatment statuses in eSWIS to comply with DOE regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Support adherence to the Environmental Quality Act 1974 and OSHA 1994. Prepare for inspections and audits by DOE, DOSH, and other authorities.
  • Documentation & ISO Standards:
    Maintain safety documents (risk assessments, incident logs, training records) aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Liaise with DOE, DOSH, BOMBA, and other agencies.
  • Health & Wellness Programs:
    Assist in implementing workplace safety and wellness programs, including health screenings and awareness campaigns.
  • Daily Safety Inspections:
    Conduct daily site checks to identify and correct unsafe conditions or non-compliance among workers and subcontractors.
  • Training & Emergency Preparedness:
    Support toolbox talks, safety briefings, fire drills, first aid training, and emergency response programs in line with local regulations.
  • Contractor & Visitor Safety:
    Ensure contractors, visitors, and guests are briefed on safety rules and provided with proper PPE.
  • Permit-to-Work Management:
    Oversee the PTW system for high-risk tasks (e.g., hot work, confined space entry), ensuring permits are issued, monitored, and closed correctly.
  • Forklift Operation:
    Safely operate a forklift to transport scheduled waste during loading activities.
  • Risk Assessments:
    Assist with Chemical Health Risk Assessments (CHRA), noise monitoring, and ergonomic assessments. Help implement corrective actions based on findings.
  • General SHE Support:
    Provide technical and administrative support to the SHE Manager across all safety, health, and environmental programs. Participate in audits, investigations, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical or Engineering or a related field.
  • Around 3+ years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety, ideally in manufacturing and scheduled waste handling.
  • Certified Competent Person for CepSWAM and proficient in its use.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Certified to operate a forklift is a plus
  • Good understanding of local safety, health, and environmental laws.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
