A leading healthcare provider in Malaysia is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to develop treatment plans for patients facing speech, language, and swallowing difficulties. The ideal candidate will have a Degree or Master in Speech Language Pathology and 1-2 years of experience. Duties include evaluating patient needs, documenting treatments, providing education to families, and participating in staff training. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Develop treatment plans to assist patients with speech and language problems involving receptive and expressive skills, fluency disorders, feeding and swallowing disorders as well as voice disorders. Treatment plans should be based on evidence from assessments as well as recommendations from physicians, psychologists and etc.
Assess patient needs and adjust treatments in accordance with patient progression.
Evaluate language, speech or hearing test results as well as medical information and barium swallow results to diagnose and develop a treatment plan for feeding and swallowing, fluency, language, speech and voice disorders.
Document information and write reports with details regarding patient billing, insurance, evaluations, progress, treatment, and discharge of patients.
Teach patients proper techniques to achieve more effective communication using augmentative and alternative communication.
Instruct patients on how to strengthen the muscles of the face, tongue and jaw to facilitate improved speech production and intelligibility.
Establish patient understanding, expectations, and goals for treatment.
Provide accurate documentation and reporting for all patient visits.
Provide counselling to patients and patients’ families regarding findings of assessment and recommended options.
Attend conferences to maintain up-to-date with the latest trends, research, and management in the field of speech therapy.
Educate patients and families on their disorder.
Participate in the development and training of relevant education programs for staffs, and student trainees.
Participate in marketing activities when required.
Serves as a resource to the staff at Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara.
Handles other administrative duties.
