A leading engineering technology company in Malaysia is seeking a Sourcing Buyer. The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a strong background in supplier management, negotiation, and engineering drawing comprehension. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is essential. The role includes conducting supplier audits, leading negotiations, and preparing inventory reports. Creative thinking and strong communication skills are vital for success in this position.
Carried out new supplier qualification and validation audits with the support form cross functional team (engineering and quality).
Participate in supplier approval process by assessing their manufacturing, technology capabilities and health, safety & environmental risks
Lead price negotiations, benchmarking, cost analysis and secure advantageous commercial agreements with approved external supplier.
Liaise with supplier to ensure on time delivery, production capacity improvement and flexibility to support delivery schedule.
Prepare monthly purchase & inventory report and price analysis.
Manage supplier KPI performance according to company’s procedure.
Experience is sourcing mechanical parts (machining fabrication; sheet metal; metal structural;); EE parts (cable hardness and standard component) and floor stock standard parts is an added advantage.
Undertake any reasonable additional tasks as directed.
A minimum of bachelor’s degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Engineering, Applied Science or in a related field is required for this position.
Minimum 7 years working experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment and at least 4 years in Sourcing Buyer field.
Candidates without the minimum paper qualification but have more than 10 years related working experience can be considered.
Able to understand engineering drawing especially on GD&T requirement is an added advantage.
Familiar with problem solving tools (8D, A3, FMEA, Ishikawa diagram, Pareto chart, etc.) is an added advantage.
Knowledgeable in ISO 9001 QMS is a must. Exposure to ISO13485 / AS9100 is a plus.
Creative thinking and strong negotiations skills.
Literacy in Microsoft Words, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Experience in newly startup manufacturing company is an added advantage.
